The Role of the Division
The Division of Research and Commercialisation supports the University's innovation agenda through its partnerships with the Faculties, local community, industry, state and national government bodies. The Division has a key role in brokering relationships between external end-users and QUT's R&D capabilities for consultancy and contract research to provide solutions to real world problems.
The Division also facilitates access for industry partners to highly leveraged Government R&D support schemes.
Responsibilities of the Division
The Division's responsibilities span the research and commercialisation domains and it has a critical role in generating earned income to support the University's operations, particularly in business development areas. The Division is responsible for liaising and negotiating with major granting bodies in order to maximise the University's competitive grant income and to support the interpretation and timely implementation of research policies and reforms across the University. The Division oversees the development and delivery of the University's Research and Innovation Plan, administers the University Research Budget, and oversees all R&D contracts and the University's Research Ethics Framework. The Division oversees the University's Doctoral and other research training through its Research Students Centre.
The Division also assists qutbluebox, the commercialisation company for QUT, in the management, protection and commercialisation of QUT’s intellectual property.
